Building the Future of Governance: an Interdependence Coalition Webinar
A webinar hosted by the Interdependence Coalition updating our community on the latest news from the European Commission and our action plan
The EU Commission consulted on the remit and scope of sustainable corporate governance regulations in February 2021. Triggered by the European Parliament, this is a moment for the European continent to show global leadership by adopting a more progressive form of governance based on the interests of all stakeholders, not just those of shareholders. While the European Commission was expected to adopt a proposal in June 2021, it has now been delayed for the third time.
As coordinators of the Interdependence Coalition, on the 31st of January 2022, we organized a webinar to take stock on where things stand. We also proposed a campaign strategy to ensure we do not miss this window of opportunity to change the rules of the game for business across Europe.
Keynote speakers included:
- Pascal Canfin, Member of the European Parliament
- Professor Alberto Alemanno, The Good Lobby, recognized by the World Economic Forum as Social Innovation Thought Leader of the Year
We have a unique opportunity – with the Sustainable Corporate Governance Package to translate the European Green Deal into the daily governance of large European companies, in particular by developing transition plans aligned with climate neutrality by 2050.
Pascal Canfin, MEP
It was exciting to see the enthusiasm around the Interdependence Coalition, and we’re looking forward to advocating for changes to the EU’s legislation on sustainable corporate governance together with all of you.

Now is the moment to act and keep up the momentum around this directive, and we hope to be in touch again by the end of February once the European Commission has shared its proposal.
